Can't get to the gym as often as you'd like? Home workouts don't always mean popping on a celebrity DVD. There are many workouts without equipment, but if you have the space and a couple space ££'s then you can get more oomph in your workout with some of these bits and bobs.

1) Mini bands- perfect for your warm ups and activating big muscle groups. Try a workout with these with a high rep range. OUCH BURNY! Small enough to take anywhere so great if you travel alot.

2) Dumbbells- So versatile, they’re small, they’re relatively inexpensive, and you can adjust the weight on them (on some kinds) so they’re great for all kinds of exercises.

3) Mat- Goes without saying, although a good thick towel would do the job unless you have really uncomfy floors, a 15mm thick one is comfy enough to be rolling about on.

4) KB - Heavy - swings, goblet squats, even KB deadlifts can transform your training. Portable and versatile

Kettlebells

5) KB- Lighter- great for single arm stuff, biceps, triceps. Kind of cheating to have 2x kettlebells on the list but a Top 9 doesn't sound as good!

6) Swiss ball- Love mine for core work, stability work, stretching, just sitting on and rocking. Cheap, easy to use and suitable for all levels of fitness.

7) Resistance Bands- Resistane bands are compact, lightweight and can be used at home or when travelling. They are often used during rehabilitation sessions, work as they provide different levels of resistance in a variety of moves.

8) Pull up bar or somewhere to hang/do knee raises- The nemesis to most women!! 2 ways to nail your pulls ups. Practice and dropping body weight. Investing in a bar and just hanging from it will help with your grip strength, by engaging your back and shoulders muscles you are getting the basics right and eventually the elusive pull up will come.

9) Sliders- AKA those wee bastards. The evil of absolute evil but so so effective for those hamstrings, verstile as they can be used to train your core too.

10) Foam Roller- Using a foam roller a more affordable way to give yourself a deep tissue massage. By slowing rolling over various areas of your body, you'll help break up adhesions and scar tissue and speed up the healing and recovery process after your workout.
