Spinning Plates??

Parents have it kind of a bit difficult. How do you fit everything in? To be honest, you don’t even need to be a parent to feel like things are going a bit manic.
Work, family time, cooking, workouts, sleeping, if its not actually doing these things, its planning them!
No wonder everyone is exhausted.
So…..here’s some of my top tips to make your live easier, these are all ones I have tried myself and have helped in some way.
Learn to say no at work- if you can't work late, then don't work late. If you're barely getting your actions done in a day then don't take on a new project. Speak to your manager, manage your time, stop procrastinating.
Family time- Are you always running wee Ophelia to Oboe lessons, or taking Bert to Boxing and you never sit down in the evening? Ask to share the run with another mum, or cut back on your kids classes, sure it’s not much fun having a frazzled maw.
Cooking- Avoid the ready meal trap, the food is shit. If you can afford it, then get the home cooked ones that get delivered to you, this is a luxury for most though. Use your slow cooker, batch cook, plan meals. It takes less than 10 minutes to make some lean burgers. Buy pre-prepped veg, use spice mixes for flavour. There are a gazillion recipe books out there. I even have one for my Change Your Life Programme gals. Eat your veg. Get some fruit and veg’s in at every meal. EVERY MEAL.
Workouts- Plan them in your calendar, have your clothes out taunting you and your gym bag ready! Can’t ever do 1 hour sessions, do 30 minutes instead. Smash them- trust me it will help with your energy level and your sleep quality. Do a home workout. My programmes have online and home workouts so there are options if you are really stuck.
Sleeping- switch off your phone and tablet- get away from the tv screen at least 30 minutes before bed time. Get as much sleep as you can. Read a book rather than watch TV in the run up to bed, avoid caffeine, you know the drill! If you can’t get 8 hours a night (who actually gets 8 hours a night???) then get the best quality you can.
The best tip I can give you ladies out there who are trying to spin the plates is to make yourself a priority at times. There is a phrase.....
You can't pour from an empty cup
Who is benefiting from a burnt out, frazzled, stressed angry mum/partner? No-one.
