What happens with the motivation fades from your weight loss journey?

You’ve had the wedding, party, holiday what’s the goal now?

Most people start out on their weight loss or fitness journey full of gusto, hugely motivated, determined. That initial rush fades over time. You don’t stay motivated for ever. Even people in the fitness industry hit the ‘I can’t be arsed’ slumps. So how do you keep on track?

Write your goals down, share with someone close, ask them to give you a kick when you slump. Make sure you have a strategy in place to keep your eye on the prize

Identify when motivation fades, recognise it, invite it, show it that you’re not going to be beaten. Give yourself a talking to. Determination and discipline trumps motivation.

Track your progress. Track your food AND your workouts AND your weight AND measurements. Keep a diary, chart your progress

Plan your week- food planning, shopping lists, workout planning. Get them in your calendar, treat them like your work diary. Would you cancel the dentist because you can't be bothered? Don't cancel other aspects of your health because you can't be bothered.

Take ownership of your journey. Grit your teeth, get the workout done. Say no to the takeaway, some sacrifices need to be made. Stop self-sabotaging

Are you a snacker who keeps snacks in the house? - get rid of them.

Cooking calorific meals? -get a cookbook for lighter food.

Cancelling workouts as not feeling up to it?- get to the gym and just try a shorter session. Just do something.

Keep going on nights out and getting wrecked? Cut it down to once a month

You are always out for dinner?- pick from the menu before you go, ask partners to eat at home more.

Be your own person, fight for what you want.
